The Buccoo Reef is an underwater paradise renowned for its vibrant marine life and striking coral formations. As one of the most accessible coral reefs in the Caribbean, it offers snorkelers and divers an immersive experience with colourful fish, sea turtles, and anemones. The crystal-clear waters and the famous Nylon Pool, a shallow area in the middle of the sea with warm, turquoise waters, provide a serene and otherworldly atmosphere. A glass-bottom boat tour is a popular way to explore this natural wonder, allowing visitors to marvel at the breath taking underwater scenery without getting wet. Buccoo Reef is a must-visit for nature lovers and adventure seekers alike, promising an unforgettable encounter with the natural beauty of Tobago.
Second Stop: Nylon Pool and No Man’s Land
The Nylon Pool is located just south of Buccoo Reef, you can relax in the soft white sand bordering the thigh-high turquoise waters. If you can’t resist the urge to go in, you can float in the still lagoon, with the deep blue ocean on one side and a palm-fringed beach on the other. Locals claim the water here has the ability to rejuvenate anyone lucky enough to swim in it. The area was named by Britain’s Princess Margaret in 1962, who likened it to the transparency of nylon, when she spent her honeymoon there.
In the far South of the Caribbean Sea lies a stretch of uninhabited and exquisite sandy beach lapped by the most kaleidoscopic waters you will ever see. Located near the Bon Accord Lagoon; this unique beach is called No Man’s Land. It is easily one of the most beautiful spots in all of Tobago, second perhaps to Nylon Pool which is situated in the Sea directly in front of it.
Third Stop: Shurland’s Hummingbird Nature Park
Nestled in the verdant hills of Tobago, Shurland’s Hummingbird Nature Park is a haven for bird lovers and eco-tourists. This lush sanctuary is home to a dazzling array of hummingbirds, including the vibrant Ruby-topaz and the iridescent Blue-chinned Sapphire. Visitors can stroll through well-maintained paths surrounded by tropical flora, with the gentle hum of wings and the sight of these tiny, jewel-like birds feeding on nectar.
